because you can tell that John is afraid. John is afraid because he can tell when Sherlock is afraid, and Sherlock, here, is very scared, and frustrated and angry,
And the only way John knows how to ground Sherlock, is by acting how John always has. Stoic, and un-intimidated by Sherlock. A small joke “No one can fake being such an annoying dick all the time,” to inform Sherlock that John knows him, and is there for him, as he’s always been. And he isn’t panicking, because Sherlock.. Sherlock is panicking.
But in that last gif: John is worried. John is scared.

The Secret Life of the Gallifreyan Doctor
Plot twist: In an alternate dimension, Dumbledore and The Doctor are knitting club buddies
Johanna was one of the only characters that I like more after seeing the film. I went in already loving Katniss and Peeta and Effie and Finnick, seeing them on screen was just an added bonus. Jena Malone really brought something else out in Johanna, gave her more depth and added some much needed levity to the situation. A++ work.
